Wouldn’t it be amazing if the top (highly relevant) GPTs were served to you from a pool of 3 million Custom GPTs? That’s exactly what the brand-new GPT Store is for. The GPT Store, launched on Wednesday, is a platform that puts the spotlight on custom GPTs and broadens its user base.
After announcing the GPT builder in November, OpenAI was keen on launching the GPT store as a unified platform for all the Custom GPTs. The opening was delayed to December and was finally launched in January.
What is meant by the GPT store?
The GPT Store is open for Chat GPT plus users. Consider the GPT store as the search engine for the custom GPTs worldwide. This GPT store allows people to share the custom GPTs they have built publicly. It helps in expanding the ecosystem of OpenAI and gives access to the masses to publish their custom GPTs.
Since the announcement of the GPT Builder program in November, OpenAI has reported that users, including yours truly (I created a GPT designed to propose synonyms for everyday words), have collectively generated over 3 million bots, known as GPTs. OpenAI now intends to showcase valuable GPTs every week within the store.
The platform allows individuals who have crafted their personal chatbots to publicly share their versions of ChatGPT. Presently, only subscribers to OpenAI’s paid tiers have the capability to create and utilize custom GPTs.
Why do we need the GPT Store?
The launch of the GPT Store is a significant step forward, making AI technology more accessible, practical, and rewarding. This move solidifies OpenAI’s position as a leading company that consumers appreciate in the field. The GPT Store provides a platform for GPT creators to earn from their creations. The details of how this will work are not entirely clear yet, but the process is set to kick off by the end of March.
The GPT Store caters to a broader audience. This platform eliminates the need for coding, meaning you don’t have to rely on coding to build a website. But, if you create something, you need to set up a Builder Profile and share your real name or link to a verified website. Also, there’s a new subscription tier for ChatGPT.
They also mentioned that in the first part of this year, OpenAI plans to start a program called “GPT Builder Revenue.” This program will allow developers to make money by creating their special GPTs
