What are UTM Parameters in GA4?

We put some special parameters into our links to inform Google Analytics about the traffic source and medium.

The link of the page represents the UTM parameters such as source, medium, content, and campaign.

Let’s understand these parameters in detail:

The source is the origin of traffic coming to your website or its page.

Medium is how that traffic reaches your website, means through the paid medium or organic medium.

Content is the piece of content used during the campaign.

The campaign is the particular ad that brought traffic to your web page out of the multiple ads running for traffic

Putting these UTM parameters into your link simplifies task for Google Analytics and helps it to maintain data for that page.
